The Requirements
To be a good fit for the Safety, Health and Environmental Specialist opportunity, you will have:- A degree in Occupational Safety or 5+ years of experience in a safety, health and environmental role.

- The ability to:
- Gather, track and report on data.
- Coordinate claims, including opening, investigating, following through and closing.
- Conduct training, including developing training sessions and materials.
- Conduct audits.
- A strong understanding of current safety, health and environmental compliance. OSHA 30-hour safety certification is preferred (if you don't have it we'll help you get it).
- Experience in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PPT).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with people at all levels of the organization.
- Solid leadership and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work well with and achieve results through others, without having a direct line of authority over them.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work and deal with stress.
- The ability to work independently and contribute as a team player.
- Sound judgement, initiative and a methodical approach.
- Flexibility and the willingness to learn and grow, including undergoing further training as needed.
The Role
Reporting directly to the VP of Safety, Health and Environmental, you will play a pivotal role helping in ensuring overall safety, health and environmental compliance. You'll be responsible for working with safety leadership, as well as regional leadership to ensure overall compliance with both federal and local authorities. In addition, you'll help to achieve a successful and safe work environment that meets all organizational and regulatory requirements.More specifically, you will:
- Maintain, update and pull reports from various databases, such as the driver monitoring and insurance claims databases.
- Gather and maintain all required documentation related to safety, health and environmental compliance.
- Record, track and ensure all required training is completed.
- Coordinate injury and vehicle accident reports.
- File and follow through on workers' compensation, vehicle accident and other claims, including coordinating with vendors.

- Receive and file all regular reports, such as monthly safety audit reports.
- Provide support to the VP, including preparing new or revised polices and all safety related communication materials.

At Dickinson Fleet Services we seek ambitious, innovative individuals with the ability to grow and maintain value-added relationships with our team and external customers. Your knowledge of safety, health and environmental compliance will be essential, but just as important will be solid interpersonal and leadership skills. You should be as comfortable conducting training for Mobile Technicians as you are presenting to executives.As you interact with safety representatives, shop managers, regional managers and others, you should be proactive about establishing yourself as a resource who can help them achieve goals. A collaborative approach will work best, and you'll need the ability to influence others. At the same time, with so much at stake, you'll need to be assertive when necessary.
We understand that there will be a learning curve as you get to know our business, people and processes. We'll add responsibilities at a reasonable pace to set you up for success, but you also should be proactive about getting up to speed as quickly as possible. A commitment to ongoing learning also will be important.
To excel in this role you will have a strong aptitude for gathering and reporting data. For example, regarding incidents, you should be able to determine what information is important, be persistent in investigating, and apply the information in helping prevent future incidents.
