The Requirements
Our preference is that you have 4+ years of relevant experience, but we also will consider less experienced candidates who have solid customer-facing skills and a winning attitude. To be a good fit for the Sales Estimator opportunity, you will have:- 4 to 6 years of transportation industry experience, including work requiring a solid understanding of parts and labor costs.
- High energy, passion and a competitive spirit -- you should be driven to win and close deals.
- Top candidates will have at least SOME of the following (the more, the better!):
- Direct experience as an estimator.
- Experience generating sales / new business.
- An understanding of American Trucking Associations (ATA) labor and operation codes.

- Strong self-discipline, organizational skills the ability to set priorities and make optimal use of your time.
- The ability to work independently and contribute as a team player.

The Role
You will work out of our service center. Your mission will be to sell our Maintenance Select program to businesses with fleets. For the most part you'll target small to medium accounts. Key objectives will include:- Generating your own customer leads.
- Building a customer network and fostering new business contacts.
- Estimating and developing bids.
- Selling and generating new business for the region.
- Closing deals.
In addition, your responsibilities will include:
- Identifying business opportunities across your region by researching prospective fleet customers and evaluating their position in the industry.
- Visiting customer sites to sell DFS services and provide our shops with additional new business.
- Preparing work to be estimated, organizing customer proposals and related documents.
- Computing cost, including identifying labor, material and time requirements to complete repairs while also maintaining targeted profit margins.
- Researching and analyzing sales options to maximize the customer's potential with Dickinson Fleet Services.
- Maintaining relationships with clients by providing support, information, and guidance, researching and recommending new opportunities, and recommending profit and service improvements.

We are looking for a "hunter in estimator's clothing," a high-energy professional who combines technical knowledge with a never-ending desire to win and close deals. You'll need a strong entrepreneurial spirit to grow this territory and keep it thriving. This will require you to work independently, from getting yourself motivated to managing your pipeline to coordinating among internal resources. At the same time, we take a team-oriented approach across DFS. You'll collaborate with the Regional VP to ensure your strategies support regional goals, and also partner with different departments within DFS.We understand that there will be a learning curve as you become familiar our business and markets. At the same time, you should be proactive about getting up to speed quickly.
